Our mother-first initiatives
Milk and Bloom was built for one person, the woman feeding a baby at three in the morning with nobody watching and nobody asking how she is. Everything on this page exists for the version of her who is doing it in a hospital chair, or without a support network, or on the hardest week of her life.
We are a small kitchen. We cannot fix maternal healthcare in this country. What we can do is turn up consistently for the people already doing that work, and bake for the mothers who need it most.
Every month: the neonatal units
As of now, between 30 and 50 boxes leave our kitchen every month for the neonatal intensive care units at Westmead and the Royal Hospital for Women.
They go to mothers who are expressing around the clock for babies they are not able to hold yet, living on hospital coffee and whatever is left in the vending machine at 2am, often for weeks at a time. Those women are doing one of the hardest jobs there is, in a room designed for their baby rather than for them. Sending them something warm, real and made that morning is the least we can do, and it is the part of this business we would give up last.
We are working to grow that list. If you work in a neonatal or maternity unit and would like your mothers included, we would genuinely like to hear from you.
In the community: NSW Health open days
We have taken part in the maternity services open days run by NSW Health's South West Sydney network.
At those days we meet new and expecting mothers to talk through eating well while feeding, share what is actually practical when you have not slept, and point people toward qualified lactation consultants when what they need is proper clinical support rather than a cookie. Knowing when to hand someone on is part of the job.
Our foundation partners
Mater Foundation
Since launching, we have support the Mater Foundation's breast cancer fundraising every year, and we use the partnership to keep breastfeeding and postpartum health part of the broader women's health conversation rather than a footnote to it.
We are actively looking for more partners in maternal and infant health. If that is you, get in touch.
World Breastfeeding Week 2026
This year, for the first time, we handed the whole week over.
We donated one hundred percent of the net profit from every order placed between the first and the seventh of August to PANDA, who support the mental health of expecting and new parents right across Australia.
World Breastfeeding Week is the one week of the year when the whole country is talking about feeding, and it would have been easy to turn that attention into a sale instead.
How you can be part of it
Every one of these programs is funded by the business, which means every order placed here keeps the boxes going out to Westmead and Randwick each month.
If you know a unit, an organisation or a program that should be on this page, tell us. Most of what we do now started with somebody sending us a message.
